Right here is what happened, after hours of vista installing it was at its final stage, Upgrade Completion or something like that, at around 52% the screen went black and windows restarted only on restart, the boot options came up like they did with the first 2 or 3 restarts an then when the loading bar came up, it got stuck, then suddenly a blue screen of death flashed on the screen for about a second, and windows restarted AGAIN, only this time it didnt even bother trying to start it just said that there was an error and to fix it, I must use Startup Repair by booting up with the installation disc.

Please help, what should I do, and how can I solve it?

Obviously vista musnt be fully installed as the screen went black on 52% :(

My take is you should have just backed up all the data and did a clean install of Vista. Vista does not take as long to install as Windows XP did. I found out that when I install it with a clean install it takes about 30 minutes or less and you get a faster and better performing system. Yes you may have to re-install your applications and games and such but in the long run its well worth it.. I have installed Windows Vista Ultimate on my laptop. I have installed Vista Business on abut 32 machines on the network I administer at work. I must admit installing on the network was better because we have a way to install a basic install image to all the PC's we specify without having to be sitting at the machine.

A clean install would really be the best way to do it. Upgrading Windows is never a good idea as things like this can happen. You should still be able to do a clean install even with an Upgrade version of Vista, but you'll have to have the Windows XP disc. The only other thing you could do would be to attempt a repair. In this case you would boot from the Vista DVD, and there should be a repair option. I'm not well versed with Vista, as I wouldn't touch it again with a 500 ft pole, but hopefully someone will be able to help you.
