    I am new too using computers and i bought a laptop in december it came wit a free vista upgrade rebate. I have sent in the rebate but if i install it will i lose everthing on my computer like my music and pictures.

    some of ur current apps might not be compatible with vista, but as far as personal data u would not be losing anything.

    if u r concerned, wait a bit more before performing an upgrade, if not go thru ur apps and search for vista compatibility

    Definitely back up all of your data before you start the upgrade. Even if they say you don't need to. It is a major change to your system and anything can go wrong.
