I have a XPS notebook running Vista. When I use the Windows Photo Gallery to view the photos, it picks them randomly, not in order. How do I make Windows Photo Gallery show the photos in order? I don't see anything in the menu to fix this. I find it highly irritating when I want to see the photos in order and it jumps around randomly.

If you are viewing a slideshow, try right clicking on a picture. Choose loop instead of shuffle in the menu that pops up.

I'm not using slide-show. I want to go to one picture at a time in order.

Sort out your photo list. Make sure the names are in order.
Check the photo viewer/slideshow options aswell -
Uhh... I wouldn't be asking this question if they weren't already in order...
I could see how to adjust the slideshow, but not the view itself? -
Ok here's what you do:
Open a picture and click Go to Gallery in the upper left corner (if you aren't there already)
There should be a search bar in the upper right. Just to the left of that there is a little 4 square button to choose thumbnail view. Click it and go to Sort By > whatever you want. You probably want it on Sort By File Name right?
Hope that works.
EDIT: oh and maybe change the Group By option too. -
Thanks! That seems to work. How did you figure that one out? I never thought to look at those little square buttons at the top/left.

Haha I don't know, I just opened it up and clicked around a little bit until I noticed the Sort By option by accident....
