Hey guys
For some reason I can't put my notebook into sleep mode. Everytime I leave it a lone or even go into start then sleep it would just not sleep.
Does anyone know how I can fix this problem?
update: When my notebook is unplugged and I put it to sleep it works. I will test to see if it will work again with it plugged in.
Thanks
Jimmy
Edit: Answered from a different thread here is it.
Control Panel > Power options > (High Performance) Change Plan Settings > Change Advanced Power Settings > Multimedia Settings > When Sharing Media
--Change the plugged in setting to "allow computer to sleep" or "prevent idling to sleep" for whichever suites your needs. Hit apply and give sleep another try.

Check your power settings.

hey Kegobeer
I did here's the scoop
I have three modes
Power Saver
Balanced
High Performance
Both power saver and Balanced is able to go into sleep mode.
However High Performance isn't able to. I'm not sure why this happened because before I was able to.
I did enable sleep in all three settings so I'm not sure what the problem is.
Hope some one can help out
Thanks

Did you edit the advanced settings for the high performance plan? By default, sleep and hibernate are disabled for both on battery and while plugged in.
-
Yes I did edit the high performance settings.
I enabled sleep on high performance. It is suppose to sleep after 2 hours.
To check this I go into start menu and then sleep and it won't but with the other two settings they both go into sleep and when the notebook is unplugged it goes into sleep as well. -
Which laptop is having the problems? Did this just recently start, or has this been a problem for a long time? Do you get any error messages? Does it sleep and then immediately wake up? Can you hibernate?
-
- LG P300 is having the problem.
- I just noticed maybe a few days ago.
- I don't get any error messages.
- What happens is that the screen goes black and turns right back on sometimes I have to push a key or move the mouse to have the monitor turn back on. (Monitor turns off only but does not sleep)
-Yes I can hibernate.
Thanks for looking into this. -
It might be your graphics driver... maybe try one from laptopvideo2go.com.
Cheers... -
I have had similar issues with my video drivers as well. I am on the latest Nvidia Notebook drivers (beta, but verified) and it lets me sleep). It seems to be an intermittent issue due to a cocktail of software interacting with each other. If the driver update does not help out, try going through any recent changes (last month).

hey Pixelot
I've been using these drivers forever now since I re-installed Vista over a month ago.
It's version 186.03
Any explanation why this would causing the whole sleep issue now?
Thanks for posting
Jimmy
Edit: thanks gengerald for the explanation
EDIT 2:
I found this in another thread... copy pasted here.
Thanks everyone for trying to help. I really appreciate it.

Hey KegoBeer
Yes.... yes it did. I would have never thought the answer would have been there.
I never touched those original settings before so I don't know how those settings were changed in the first place.
Good thing is, problem solved -
Wow, that is awesome that it fixed it for you. Thank you for posting your solution, I am sure this will assist others in their pursuit of sleep mode.

Yhaa I'm happy too lol I spent hours looking around trying to figure out what the problem was.
I'm glad with a lot of digging around that I stumbled onto the other thread with the answer. It's good that there are people out there to lend a helping hand. -
Good work, mate! That's the sort of thing that will help in the future. Props
