    To all...

You can look at my sig to see my specs...

The big question is this....am I going to be happier with vista business or xp pro?

I game, and I know that xp is more game-friendly.
I also know that vista is a very visually satisfying OS.

I don't like how vista sucks up hard drive space (of my original "120" gb, I only have 84 left...and I have only installed 5gb worth of files....

All opinions will be valued, especially by people who really know what they are talking about...please no responses with just the os in your post

    Thanks

Vista runs good on 2GB Ram. But I would never recommend Vista over XP. At least not a the moment.

i currently use XP pro.. and am an avid gamer. no problems, safe way to go. getting a new computer and am gonna use vista however. To be future safe, ppl will eventually use 4gigs of ram.. and gaming will be DX10. Xp does have patches for this.. but thats it.. just patches. another thing, drivers and updates will constantly arrive refining the OS. i should have my new system in a week, maybe a lil more, in which i'll post true comparisons ive noticed.

If you already have Vista installed and you are not having any problems then there is really no point in switching to XP. More trouble than its worth really. Especially considering that service pack 1 should be coming out some time in the not too distant future.

As something of a side-note, I started using Vista just today, though it wasn't really by choice. More like an unexpected accident (Windows XP was corrupted and I only had a Vista disk available). Still, the install was completely trouble-free and actually solved some hardware problems I was having with XP. I've only been using it for about 10 hours, but so far, I actually really like it. Once I switched off Aero I started liking Vista even more. If it handles games as well as it is handling everything else then I think that I'll be quite happy to stick with Vista.

Since XP Professional is your current OS, stick with it. It does use less memory, tried and tested, compatible with everything and won't annoy you. XP SP3 will arrive soon that should provide more fixes and enchancement to it. There are programs that takes up less resources then Vista but will provide you the closest Aero interface in XP, giving the graphical niceties for free.

I'd just like to point out that he already has Vista Business installed right now, at least thats how I read the following comments.

And with that in mind, I maintain that since you already have it installed there isn't any point in downgrading to XP if you aren't having any problems. If you're having problems with it though, then sure, its worth your time and effort.

keep in mind that "120gb" harddrive is actually 114 tho... thanx to confusion as to whether its 1024 or a 1000 bytes that denotes the new prefix of kilo/mega/gig...
i didnt get vista yet... but will have ultimate coming in a few weeks on my new system... wat is this "aero" every1 seems to have trouble with?

Not to nitpick...but I wouldn't expect much more than a collection of already released patches in XP SP3, with a few new ones speckled in. The "enhancement" happened in Vista. Now MS is just keeping XP secure and up-to-date, as the majority of users still use it.
