Ultimate has the "ultimate-extras", which are some little gadgets & a protection system for your disks (bitlocker). It also has Business' features, such has Domain login, remote desktop and stuff...

Worth it? Depends. What's the price difference? If it's $35, why not?

I don't think it's worth it. I got 2 free copies of Ultimate from Microsoft. If it weren't for that I would just stick to Premium. :p

Hate to say it but I have to go with Ultimate, especially since it can be had for a reasonable price pretty much anywhere now.

I personally like the 'Complete PC Backup' ability to do a complete diskset of your hard disk as well as the Dreamscene content. Yes there is lots extra but.... these are the two points that stand out for me...

Nein. To use DX10 applications, you fundamentally need a DX10 GPU (for nVidia, geforce 8 series and up) and Windows Vista (and up for later).

Well, the features I find useful in Ultimate compared to Home Premium are included in Business which is what I use like Previous Version to backup some files or the whole system. Any Ultimate-only features I think could be useful is BitLocker, but TrueCrypt can also encrypt your whole Windows drive since version 5 I believe.

    Oh yeah, very insightful

I hear ya and that's what I did. Microsoft gave me two free copies of Vista Ultimate. I wouldn't buy it as XP is still the better OS. :p

When you buy it yourself from an OEM resseller. Dell and likes sell you home basic OEM + any other Retail upgrade

    EDIT: Okay, it's $70 difference
