what is the battery life of windows vista equipped laptops, versus windows xp equipped laptops.
Does anyone know: those who have put the latest build of vista on their laptops, testers, informed haxxors?
I was thinking on holding off on a purchase of a laptop because of Vista and Santa Rosa.....but if the battery life is going to suck.. i might as well buy now.

Its going to depend, if you run all of the Visual Effects, they will certainly hurt your battery life. Maybe if you turned everything to max power you could squeeze a little more out, but my bet is they will be roughly the same.

First let me say that I'm not using Vista. But, here's what I think ( this is part of the reason why there will be no Vista for me in the near future )
if you want the eye candy, the battery life is going to suck.
I seriously cannot imagine even in my wildest dreams that Vista will put less strain on the system than XP. And as you know, higher CPU usage, GPU usage, HD usage will cause a shorter battery life. -
Dual booting RC2 & XP ....Battery life is almost the same for both.
I get anywhere from 2 1/2 to 3hrs on Max Performance on both.
I think Vista takes 10 min off my batt life. Give or Take.
But it depends on what your doing on each OS at the time.
But Generally , Yes batt life is about the same.
At least for me. -
The battery life depreciacion is not too bad. Vista does consume more power than XP but I found that it reduces the battery life around 15 - 30mins compared to Win XP depending on usage.

cheers ... -
I've found it to be pretty comparable. As others have said, the max you will notice is about 30 minutes. This is a lot for a laptop, though, so if battery life is your most important aspect, you may want to turn off Aero Glass. When you put the computer on 'Max Battery,' the glass feature will automatically be turned off.
