I have Vista Premium with Service Pack 1, and when I plug in my Jabra bt8030 usb headphone, it installs the necessary drivers and I can use it right away.

The problem occurs when I unplug the usb device and plug it in again, it shows up as an unknown usb device. I can't use it, or update the driver. There's none from the manufacturer's website. I made sure the system BIOS is up to date on my laptop (tx2000z). If I plug it in another usb port, the drivers are automatically installed and it'll work until I unplug it and plug it in again. I can just go to the device manager and uninstall the device driver and plug it back in and have it install the drivers again, but I'll have to do that every time which is inconvenient. My usb headphone works just fine on Windows XP.

Is this a common problem for some usb devices on Vista?

. There is none of common problems of usb devices under Vista, other than driver.
. How did you unplug the headphone?
. What happened at next Vista restart?

    cheers ...

Most likely bad drivers. Drivers have an initialization sequence. The driver is unable to start because the sequence it timing out and the OS ends up seeing it as an unknown device. The driver needs to be fixed. Most likely, you'll have to wait for Jabra to release new drivers. On install, the sequence runs fine since the installer is running the sequence as prescribed in the install files, but if the driver is not properly installing itself (the installer does whatever the install files say to do) it will not start properly.

    Hope this helps. :)
