Vista won't let me access my c:\users\drew\application data folder.
I tried the takeown command in CMD... still doesn't work for some reason.

have you tried "appdata" instead of "application data"?

It's User Account Control. You can either turn OFF UAC, or take ownership of the folder.
Try what ikovac said, except choose Add, find your particular user, and give it Full Control. -
Good point ttupa, except I already have myself and administrators group with full permissions. I assumed it is by default. Well good suggestion anyway.
BTW I have turned off UAC long time ago and still had to do the above procedure since there is this "everyone" user who has everything disabled and that takes precedence above my or administrator's full control. Sad but true.

Ivan
