    Vista and xp dual boot

    Can anybody tell me in detail how to dual boot vista an xp without using a third party software?

    Do you have a single partiton or are there 2(or more) partitions. If you have 2 then just boot with the Vista DVD and during installation select to install it on the second partition. Ofcourse this will delete any data on that partition. So, it is better to have a backup and format that partition before trying to install Vista. If you dont have 2 partitions then you will have to use a partition manager like Gparted(which is open source) or if you dont want to use any third party software then reinstall Windows XP and create a new partition during the installation.
