Hi guys,
I have Vista Ultimate x64 SP1. During boot up with the Vista green bar goes across about 15 times before the login screen. I was wondering what makes it take so long. The desktop and all applications load within 15 seconds or less and system is extremely fast at loading programs.
I think it might be hardware initializing during the boot up screen that's taking so long. When I finished installing all my drivers and applications the bars just took longer and longer to go away, before it only took 5 bars.
Any ideas?

You're almost there with the reason, you just need to make the connection.
Know why it's so fast loading up all those programs? Because it's loading them on bootup, or at least pre-caching them. Vista pre-caches software that you commonly use so it will load quickly when you need it. -
I know it precaches but it doesn't cache until you hit the desktop. I am talking about before the desktop.

Vista will also look at your hardware and adapt to what the best startup procedure is. I'm not sure exactly how it figures it out, but after about 10-15 restarts with the same hardware+software config, it will shave a few seconds off compared to the initial start.
Vista bar scrolls past 15 times??
