Office beta 2 download:

Vista is available through MSDN. But if you are not a MS partner then you can check the following Vista beta 2 nice details:

Is there a way to get Vista beta without being an MSDN member
-
@lilredfoxie: No.
-
Not legally.
-
Yeah what sharp said.
There are always ways. It just all depends on how far you are willing to go. lol

Ok, so do you have to pay to become a MSDN member and download vista? If you download vista do you have to erase XP? or is there a dual boot? or what happens?
-
everyone must be trying to get the office beta at once, its bringing up error messages saying that the server is busy
-
About Vista - even if you get it - you need a key that is provided for partners.
The february Vista could be installed in dual boot, but the problem was with the uninstall. It deletes the XP bootloader and makes a new hidden folder on C: with the new (bigger) loader. Afterwards I managed to repair the boot, and finally got rid of the hidden, system, unbelievebly stubborn folder that couldn't be deleted.
Yes Office goes at 400 kb/s at the moment unfortunately.
Hope it gets better.

According to Paul Thurnott, the new Office's menu system is very, very nice after some getting-used-to.

Any chance I could run this along side Office 2003. I don't have Access, so this would be a good chance to pick up the program. I would like to keep my current office setup though.

Does anyone know what the main differences are in Office beta 2 (as opposed to beta 1)?
-
there is something that is slightly worrying about Office 2007 and Vista...will office 2007 be compatable with older versions of MS office and vice versa?
so if I typed a letter out in office 2003 and then mailed to it a person with office 2007, will they be able to read it, and will I be able to read a word 2007 document in word 2003?
And could I install the actual program on XP? -
yes i have used the office beta 1 and it reads all .doc formats. you have an option of saving a file to the new format (.xdoc or .docx or something like that) or to the good ole .doc format, making it readable by almost every version of office. and yes, you can install it on xp
-
ah cool....thanks. I reckon the xdoc.docx format would be unpopular then?
-
i suppose for a short while. From what I hear, Microsoft is supposed to release a patch for office 2003 that would enable it to read the new format once office 2007 is released. The new format is advantageous since it takes up less space and I believe it is more secure.
-
I wouldn't want to install Office 2007 on my 'live' pc. If you have MSDN and a PC with a little horsepower, grab MS Virtual PC and install Vista and MS Office on a virtual PC.

i just downloaded office and i'm pretty pleased so far... i was gonna wait til i get money to buy 2003 (i've been using openoffice in the meantime) but now i think i'll just stick with this. hmmm the possibility of not needing to buy an office app until many years from now? nice....

So is beta 2 closer to the real deal? doing my very best to get a copy of the cd..original that is...
-
Speech Recognition ... finally ... wonder how well it works though?
And that recycle bin is pretty nice.
I didnt like the Office 2007 looks. Its to "basic" for my taste. I personally am really fond of Office 2003. -
For some weird reason I can't delete Office 2007.
-
been using office 2007 since it came out and i have to say it is a solid product and i can see where it would benefit someone to use the features they have included
Vista beta 2 and Office System 2007 beta 2
