I have experienced this bug on Vista, which I no longer have, but I am sure the same thing can occur on XP as well.

To make this thread more meaningful for the readers and myself, I have a question that needs to be answered as well, is it better to clean install using upgrade disk or install over my XP installation? I only have access to the upgrade disk btw.

I was messing with Vista's desktop for fun and a programming project, I want to see if I can backup the entire user's desktop folder including icons, shortcuts, and files. I type the code in wrong instead of copy, I used move... and as stupid I am, I moved it into the desktop itself. To my surprise it worked. Then I found out everything on my desktop disappeared, everything but the new desktop folder. I want to undo the change, so naturally I navigate back to the place where the originial desktop folder was, except Vista created a new one. so, long story short, as I delete/move/delete the folder over and over again, I ended up with 10+ desktop folders, not the regular folder, but the special ones that Vista identifies and uses for folders such as My Pictures, My Music, My Documents, etc. Which imo, it pretty ridiculous but entertaining at the same time, so I end up having 10 different Desktops I can use, but I must delete the one in use right now for Vista to use the next folder. :D Boy, was I confused, the good thing is I & Vista eventually got all the folder sorted out, and i got my desktop back again.

Oh one more thing, only the real desktop folder's got all my items, and it's the only one that allows you to Right Click on the desktop.

Just thought I did share the exciting adventures, I have been through, 2 month ago.
