I heard someone say they're releasing some kind of a dload that will fix the problems Vista is having, in November. Anyone else heard anything about this? If that's true, I'll wait to try that before I downgrade.

They release fixes all the time. Which specific problems are you thinking of? Some have been fixed, some will be fixed later, some won't be fixed, and some are "by design".

The 2 big problems I've had are 1) an error message coming up that says it doesn't recognize an OS at all (after 2 hours on the phone, tech had me system restore)

    2) two weeks later, this morning the blue screen was up and it said something about a windows crash, which he said is also an OS error. the other little problems are minor and i can deal with. these, not so much.

problem 1 has nothing to do with Vista.

problem 2 could be traced back to the root, but it's also probably a hardware problem.

Kay do you have vista x64? That has been known to cause some hardware problems, i think it's a hardware prob like what yoozer pointed out.
