Got my first Vista PC the other day and I'm loving it. One small problem, every time I turn on my computer, I get a stupid little security notification thing about how my User Account Controls are turned off. I purposely turned it off since it is so damn useless and pointless. I don't wish to be notified anymore about this. Unfortunately the only way to stop this notification, that I can see at least, is to turn off all of all alerts (which I don't want to do). Is there a way to create an exception to stop just this one notification?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hopefully linky will be of help. And yeah I get it too - but I only restart like once a week so it doesn't bother me much :p

That unfortunately turns off all notifications. I still want to be updated about security, but just not about something I purposely turned off.

I know what you are asking about but in vista AFAIK it is "all or nothing" when it comes to security center notifications. So you either have them on or off.

I have personally set mine to don't notify me and don't show the icon as I myself monitor antivirus, firewall etc and I also have UAC turned off.

Until he goes to find his saved game or some other file that will look to your friend like it is now GONE, thanks to your secretly turning off UAC. UAC is more than just the messages YOU didn't want to see. It also "virtualizes" all files that are stored in a Program Files directory for a given program. By turning off UAC like this, you have turned off this virtualization as well. Any files created in the virtualized folders are now invisible to your friend. Please go back and turn it back on, before you cause your friend to loose data he might want or need.
