Ok guys I have an Asus n50vn or should I say I am gonna have one and this few days I have learned a lot about how system works and stuff. I also learned that you cannot go directly from 32bit to 64bit. But the question is I also saw not all vista can go to 64bit. So I want to ask can vista home premium go to 64bit?
Also another question I checked on the microsoft website it says all you need is a vista 64bit cd.......I don't really mind which vista system as long it is 64 bit so do I still use vista home premium 64bit? What I mean is upgrading the bit is it only possible with the same system for example only home premium 32bit to 64bit and so on.....I really just want to stick to what I have now which is vista home premium. So tell me can I or not....
And last question after I have the cd I also checked on the microsoft website....it says put in the cd and something something something....not really sure hat they are talking about....but I think they are saying to upgrade it you put the 64bit cd in and restart and then you can install it directly....is it like this or something else plz tell me what to do......also the cd I have only contain file of 32bit so in this way the only way is to first install xp and then upgrade it to vista 64bit I mean thats what the microsoft website said...I dont' know thats why I seek answer on this website.....help...sos....
(also stop telling to stop using vista and go to xp becuase its better....well its not possible because the uber graphic card in the laptop only works on vista and its not xp competitable so no way I can or want go to xp.....XD)

You need a 64-bit CD but you can use the same serial number. It has to be a clean install though. You can also upgrade to different versions of Vista depending on what serial number you have.
-
how about how to install it becuase on the website it says if you don't have a cd with both 32bit and 64bit together then you have to purchase a new one and then downgrade it to window xp and install from xp to vista 64bit...I mean at least thats how I interpret it from the website......

There is no need to downgrade to XP. You can directly install it from a 64-bit Vista CD.
-
You could just get a Vista 64-bit installation disk and use it to install Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit on your computer. There is no need to install XP at all. Remember that a Vista disk is either 32-bit or 64-bit, never both. However, a Vista disk has ALL versions of Vista, such as Home Premium, Business and Ultimate on it. What version you will be using depends on the product key that you will be entering.

PEOPLE!!!!! please don not start threads like this, especially when our moderators have worked overtime here to merge all such threads into one big thread that answers all your questions on the 32 bit and 64 bit. and that thread is not even that hard to find. So kindly refrain from starting up threads like these and please , as our moderators have been saying all the while, read that thread before posting. And david, we are all capabe of reading normal size fonts. cheers

And you'll also need to get 64-bit drivers for your laptop. You can download the appropriate drivers from here.
