I noticed last nite when I went to open a file in word 2003 from my usb drive that it wanted me to start a trial to 2007 word. I have 2003 word so first want to know if this can be installed instead since it paid for? Also I was looking for WOrks or something to use until I gt the 2003 in & noticed that all my puter seems to have is Word 2007 no works or anything? Is this normal?

it depends from manufacturer to manufacturer. dell has the option to not include works and other stuff. and i think you'd have to uninstall word 2003 from your older computer in order to put it on your newer one

You would have to uninstall 2003 from the old one to install it on the new one.
As for the actual document, you might be able to at least open/read it in Wordpad until you get office on there. -
You do not have to uninstall Office 2003 in order to install Office 2007. The only application that you cannot run in conjunction with 2007 is Outlook. We're migrating users to 2007 right now (from 2003) and we've left everything except Outlook on there.
**Greg, I think I misread your post. You were saying he would have to unistall from the old machine, for licensing purposes, right? My bad**
-
I would uninstall 2007 just to be sure - I have had some conflicts before when downgrading - and then install your 2003 version.

Do not use a 2007 trial if you intend to install 2003. They use a different native file format, and files created or edited in 2007 will be locked once the trial period ends. If that happens, you have to open the files in a read-only mode and copy them into a new document.

My error. It no longer runs from a DOS box. Path error. They stashed it under "%ProgramFiles%\Windows NT\Accessories\wordpad.exe"
