no, not at the same time. i'll be getting a new laptop for college soon, and it's coming with Vista Premium 64bit. my current laptop has Vista Basic 32bit, and i'm wondering if it's possible to uninstall Vista Basic from my current laptop (i'm thinking of leaving that one a play laptop for W7), and dual-booting Vista Premium x64 alongside Vista Basic 34bit. now, i dont see why i couldn't do this, seeing i have the license for Basic, but i've been told that if i install my Basic software onto another computer, it wont be "Genuine". will i be able to install my Vista Basic onto another computer, or will this not work? i'd like to have both installs for compatibility purposes for school. thanks guys

As long as it is not being branded "OEM", you should be able to transfer the licence to another comp. Some licence comes with 2, 3 or multiple installations; check it first.

    cheers ...

you can just use the vista premium 64bit licence to do a 32bit install as well on your same system. but you shouldn't have any need for this. but you could.

are you talking using the same license to install a seperate 32bit, or reinstalling the x64 as 32bit? i'd like to keep the x64, if in anyway possible

You cannot install a copy of Windows that came with a system onto a different system. The version of Windows that comes with a laptop is an OEM version and can only be used on that specific system.

Like davepermen said, there is little point to installing both Vista x32 and x64 on a system. Unless you have legacy software, all you're doing is wasting drive space.

Hmmm... yeah, I can't add anything to this. Pretty much covered it. In the past, I have tried to install a Windows that came with a laptop into another laptop and it will just not work. The license is only good for the original system.

I guess the real question is why would you do this? It will be a huge waste. I know I am repeating the above post, but you really shouldn't do this. Dual Boot with Linux instead :D
