Also - it was a folder on D that I created to a folder on an external HDD that I created... I don't know why but I feel UAC does not like the ICQ installer...

believe me, YOU being careful doesn't mean anything if some virus does get it's free run. UAC exactly fits in there, then, being the last catch-it-all to not harm your system. it doesn't matter if you're careful. what matters is to know that, careful or not, nothing CAN go wrong. that is unlike on your system.
edit: and it's not that i ever had problems myself. but it's like the savetybelt in the car. just because you drive carefully doesn't mean you shouldn't wear it. -

but really, turn on uac, and remove all those extra softwares and you're as save / more save.

well, if you know what you do, you still can (as you know how to fix problematic apps.. f.e. the way i guided in my powerpoint in my sig).
but okay, yes, it could be a hazzle. never disabled it myself, i don't want hazzle at all -

and turn UAC back on. there are a lot of reasons why in other threads.
