    Hello,

I recently reinstalled Windows Vista Home premium edition from the DVD that came with my Dell laptop. During installation, I was asked to select a drive to install OS, and then there was an option to format. The formatting was very quick, I just clicked and it was done. My googling says that format option during Vista reinstallation is just 'quick' format. I didn't see any option to select full format. I have done reinstallation because of a virus scare, so I want to be very very sure that the disk is properly formatted before OS in installed.

I have never not format/OS install before, so I am very much a novice. Is it possible to do full format at the time of installing Vista from OS dvd? How to do it?

Or, is quick format enough even in the case of virus issue?

    Thanks.

A quick format should be fine, because the file allocation table has been wiped the virus cannot function, and the file will be overwrite by the new windows installation.

It take forever to do a full format on a big hdd these days.
