    Hi there

I'm having a slight problem with a Huawei E220 USB modem and Vista, I plug the modem in but it doesn't always get recognised and when it does it is very slow to start the install of the various bits it needs to run each time I plug it in.

Often I have to open up device manager to check it has installed properly and if not do an update driver on the relevant bits that have the yellow exclamation mark next to them to get them to install properly.

Please could someone advise me on how to solve this problem, it is only a Vista related thing afaik because on my XP laptop the USB modem installs fine each time I plug it in - all of my other USB devices work fine on my Vista laptop so I'm at a loss as to what could be wrong...

Thanks in advance for any help/advice and apologies if I posted this in the wrong place :)

I have Huawei 325 wireless USB modem, and it works great on both Vista (both 32 bit earlier, and 64 bit now) and XP.

It's not an OS related issue, probably.

Dunno what it was (is) but the device is working now and Vista actually recognizes the device on bootup, it just doesn't bring up the autoplay menu that shows option to open the folder or start the software (Vodafone VMC lite) that's on the USB modem, but I'm going to have a look in the autoplay options and see if theres a problem there when I can remember where they are :D

Edit - nope had a look in control panel autoplay and I can't see anything wrong? ho hum, at least it's working now when I've connected it before turning the laptop on...
