Most manufacturers, with the possible exception of select business models, have discontinued use of XP and dropped their software support for it.

    XP runs faster than vista.

I use multiple monitors very often and because of this.

I can't use maxivista which is a great multimonitor tool that will help me out alot since i play poker for a living and i use multiple monitors. it would be nice to not have to connect to my serial and hdmi always. I have a 9 inch laptop in addition to my 18.4 inch sony laptop . id be able to use the 9 incher for dual monitors or just an extra monitor given the situation.

Also, Vista 64 does not work with Synergy which is another multimonitor platform.

In addition, Dragon natural speaking 10 does not work with vista 64.

    Not really, no.

Although, you *could* try using Vista drivers in XP; whether this will work is hit-and-miss from driver to driver, so I would not recommend it. A Vista video driver, for example, would never work in XP due to the reworked WDDM.

Also, it seems that Sony's support page does offer 32-bit Vista drivers; is your software compatible with that? Not even when running in compatibility mode?

Compatibility mode allows Vista to imitate certain characteristics of XP; basically it allows older programs to run in Vista.

By thew way - you can instal software in an XP "shell" where Vista virtulizes Xp - this is required for SAS.

In Vista 64bit there are two program folders...C/Program Files
as the native 64bit applications and the C/Program Files (x86),
which holds the 32bit applications, so you can run 32bit programs
    on 64bit version of Vista.
