    Vista will update to SP1 automatically correct?

    I had to buy Vista basic for my desktop yesterday because of certain circumstances. so I go it running and had everything updated but on the system properties window it does not mention SP1. I tried to DL the standalone SP1 file from microsoft but when I run it I get this message. I knew vista still had a few kinks but to not trust its own software???? WFT!!!!!

    so how do get SP1 on this thing?

    Go to Start > All Programs > Windows Update
    Click "check for updates" a few times.

    I don't know why the standalone download didn't work for you, but if you clear up all the issues listed in that link, you should see it in Windows Update.
