Hello. I restored my laptop to an image created the 1 time I used the laptop. Since restoring the system windows won't load. After the initial boot screen and check to boot from cd it just resets. It never makes it to the windows loading screen with the green bar. I'm dual booting Vista and ubuntu but can't get into either. Any ideas?

As i said before i have not used an multi-boot os before, but i found the info below, it might be of some use.

EDIT : there must be a bootable cd/dvd that can you can use to fix your problem, I just tried the free partiton manager but i could not see an option to fix your boot.ini or vista equivalent.

When you install Ubuntu as a dual boot, the GRUB bootloader is installed. Assuming you don't have a hardware problem, what seems to have happened is the system restore has corrupted GRUB or more likely made the boot process look in the wrong place for GRUB.

Best bet is to try a repair option on the Ubuntu disc. If that fails, then Boot Problems Open Source Tools | Super Grub Disk, Super Grub2 Disk and Rescatux has fixed problems like this for me.

This should be in the linux section.
