Has anyone found the solution to what has become know on the Internet as Vista's Long Goodbye. This is where, to delete, rename or move a file or folder, no matter how small (could even be zero bytes), Vista takes about 30 seconds to do so. Even to empty the Recycle Bin of that 0 byte item takes the same long time.

I tried a search in the forum and the search result brought up the Antivirus thread - obviously a misinterpretation of the search.

This "Long Goodbye" is the only annoying thing in a new Acer Extensa 5420. Everything else, including bootup is fine.
