why is vista doing that to me? It's saying something about Age of Empires 2.0a update or some crap. I don't play that game so why isn't vista letting me update my video driver? I'm trying to use the Laptop2video go drivers @.@ i'm running vista 64bit.

Did you turn UAC off? If YES, turn it back on and try again. Sometimes this would cause Vista not be able to elevate to a higher right to install anything.
If NO, check the event log and see if can get more error messages and codes out of it.

is the drivers digitally signed?

-_- you can't be serious about vista UAC off should make me admin for all things as far as installing goes. It said something about Age of Empires 2.0a update. That's why it wouldn't let me install it. That's the reason and how should i know? it's from Laptop video 2 go which supposedly make good drivers according to what i've seen from this forums.

I stumbled on this issue whilst working with Windows 7 amd its Sidebar issues, stating that even with UAC off, there is a flag to still keep the app from functioning - due to not having the highest admin right. Turning UAC back on or tweak the "elevated" registry fixes the problem.

Edit: also turning on UAC does nothing still the same error.Attached Files:

Someone mentioned that the standard set of signed drivers for vista dont work, but by using the international set, the driver was being installed with no issue.

yes but you see i would like the Laptop video 2 go drivers. Which require me to use the modified INF for the file to work with me. :/ and those aren't seeming to work as the last nvidia one was quite old.

Have you tried this?
Says it works with 64bit vista. I have xp and it worked fine for me when I updated. -
I'd like to use the most recent ones instead of some outdated one on the nvidia site. My problem that vista prompt i can install the nvidia sight one just fine. But that one's old i would like the most recent b/c i have a problem with flickering textures.

When I updated mine using a driver from laptopvideo2go I done it like this.
Uninstalled from add/remove programs,
Rebooted into safe mode
Used driver sweep to remove any remaining files
Rebooted into normal mode
Install new driver.
Is that how your doing it? -
You must be logged on as an administrator to perform these steps.
If you do not have a connection to the Internet, you might need to update your network adapter driver manually. If you have the disc that came with the device, place it in the CD drive and follow the steps to manually update the driver.
If you can't find the disc, try to connect to the Internet from another computer and download the device driver from the device manufacturer's website. Once you have the device driver files, copy them to the computer with a problem. Follow these steps to manually update the driver.
1. Open Device Manager by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking Device Manager. Administrator permission required If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
2. In Device Manager, locate the device under Network adapters, and then double-click the device name.
3. Click the Driver tab, and then click Update Driver.
4. In the Update Driver Software wizard, click Browse my computer for driver software.
5. Click the Browse button and go to the location on your computer where you saved the new driver files.
6.Click OK, and then click Next to install the driver.
