I remember with WinXP, i was able to add 'active desktop' items, well, to my desktop. This could include images, including animated gifs, as well as html pages. Now, it seems like that option is gone. Doubleyou tee eff?

it is disappointing that m$ forgets (but then may be not) what backward compatibility means :)

active desktop is said to be replaced by the combination of sidebar and dreamscene. check out this thread if u want something to do with a changeable wallpaper (& with sound ;) )
