I just received my new ThinkPad T400 a few days ago, and I've been messing around with it a bit, but I don't believe I've done anything that would change anything important in Windows.

So, here is my issue: I customized the Windows Explorer "Favorite Links" bar to look like the first attached image, but it seemed to screw up Open and Save dialog boxes.

I used a combination of deleting some (such as the preset searches) and adding a few by dragging the icon into the bar (such as Computer).

Now, the second attached image is what open and save dialog boxes show. Notice the duplicate Favorite Links.

It appears it kept the default set of links, and then added mine, and somehow included some duplicates (and still shows the ones I deleted as well). Now, if I edit these by deleting the duplicates, it also deletes those from the Explorer windows (and therefore taking away the only link).

Anyone have any idea how to fix this? Thanks!

Alright, so I may have figured it out. It seems no matter what I do, Vista puts a few defaults in the Open/Save dialog boxes for some reason (Desktop, Computer, and Recent Places). Does anyone know how to change this?

maybe it combines the ones from you and all users (like the startmenu does). check in all users, if there are similar ones, and temporarily remove them, if that helps.

don't ask me how right now :)

I checked the Default and Public user folders, and there no links in either. It seems Windows adds them without any option to change it... annoying.
