I'm NOT asking about requiring a password on wakeup - I have my system set to Do Nothing when the lid closes. However, I would like to require a password when the lid is reopened.
Basically, we have someone living with us that we do not want using our laptops, but setting the systems to hibernate/sleep when the lid closes seems to be wreaking havoc on our router, so we don't want to use this setting.
Is there any way to do this?

Have you tried setting a password protected screensaver?
You could just use the blank-screen screensaver on a 15-30min inactive setting. -
Yeah, we've got it on a 10-min lock, but what we need is for it to lock as soon as the lid is closed - and not be annoying by trying to lock every minute while we're reading stuff or watching a move.

Why not just hit [Windows-Key]-L? Then you don't even have to close the lid; or you could hit [Windows-Key]-L and the close the lid. One more step, yes, but that shouldn't be too bad. -
Wow, I feel a little silly now, I completely forgot. :$
@Dabeer - Just out of interest (and feel free to tell me to keep my nose out) what makes you so worried? Prying roomie or something? -
Not prying, so much, but every time my brother-in-law (17, living with us) uses the computer (switches accounts, customizes his account) we seem to experience weird problems like our router crashing. My wife is convinced is because of him and what he's doing to the computer. I personally think the router failure is due to the laptop going into sleep and waking so frequently, which is why I've asked her to switch from "Sleep" to "Do nothing" when the lid closes, but she still wants to keep him out of her files.
So... yeah, prying roomie or something

Good suggestion, I'll see if that's an ok solution to my wife.
