    The subject is the topic.

I thought it'd be neat to have a thread listing the differences and improvements vs XP (as I haven't come across a whole ton), especially as regards interface and user experience. Backend stuff is good too though. Eyecandy doesn't count, unless it's functional. It'd be nice to see some new stuff pop up here.

This isn't meant to be a balanced discussion or anything. That means, please, no posts comparing operating systems or listing negatives (even though I'm sure we've all got them). I'll start:

    1. The run search box on the start menu
    2. The way renaming a file defaults to not highlighting the file extension
    3. Some manner of file-level softlinks

Readyboost: it is a great new feature. I found that my laptop was a little snappier after setting it up. I am glad that it worked in my internal card reader. I have heard that some don't work. I am using it in my Toshiba U200 with the internal card reader. SD card has to be highspeed. I am using 150x card. I will try and do a PCmark05 on it and see if it improves performance. Anyone know if PCmark05 works on vista prem?

For me, the significant reduction in random explorer crashes/hangs/wig-outs has been a big benefit. That said, it may only be due to many of my favorite applications not running under Vista that has led me to believe this, but I sincerely hope not!

Yah I agree, I like the new graphics, it's pleasant on the eyes after long hours staring at lines and lines of code or text.

Ok. Here's another one. Search folders. If you go to Vista's search window from the start menu, do a search, and then click "save search" it turns into a Search Folder in your User->Searches folder. It updates in real time.

Really? Wow! I can't wait to install it on my notebook...

I was wondering: are there any INCREDIBLE features, something never seen before on Vista. Or is it "only" about security and design?
