This is totally ridiculously dumb. I don't know what all the whining is about. I love Vista and think asides from minor hick-ups it's the best OS I've ever used and I've used almost all OS's on my computer at one point in time, that includes all windows versions that came out in the last 10 years, Ubuntu Linux and Suse Linux. I guess it's kind of funny in a reaaally stupid way. Why didn't that moron just return the OS??!?

You obviously have no clue as to the return policies of pretty much all retailers regarding opened software do you?

EDIT: Ah damn beat me to it...

I never buy a new OS. Whenever a new version of Windows comes out, I just get a new computer.

BTW, why didn't he run the Vista Upgrade Advisor and check if his so called "brand new" computer would run Vista?

How long would it have taken him to download on his 28.8 modem?

Even if it took 2 hours, it's still better than wasting 200 bucks on an OS that wouldn't work. BTW I think every "brand new" computer out there is at least Vista capable so who knows what that guy means by "brand new", 2 or 3 years old maybe and even then it should at least work without the eye-candy?

    See http://www.microsoft.com/mscorp/productrefund/refund.asp for refunds.

Personally, I found Microsoft tech support to be one of the best, with Canadians or Australians on the other end of the line (Yes, I was curious and actually asked the techies).

But ya, this guy probably did it for the publicity -- like blending your iPod.

I thought this first video was hilarious...reminded me of the kind of humor from Coen Brother films (Lebowski, Fargo, etc)

I agree that he did it for publicity. There are so many things he could have done... return it through Microsoft, keep it for later, give it away but his way of dealing with that problem was easily the dumbest.

he probably already saved his COA in a safe place, and eventually will/would re.install vista at some later date. The dude does not look THAT stupid!

very original for a personal statement regardless.

    cheers ...

It's probably the other way around, I have a 64bit computer and am running 32bit Vista and it runs well.
