Ok I get an error whenever I try to install visual studio with my 1.4Ghz Core 2 duo laptop, which is dumb because it installed on my 1.6Ghz Atom netbook before. Does anyone else get this error or has successfully installed VS 2008 on a < 1.6 Ghz notebook? Because if they are going by clockspeed to judge performance, that's obviously a good indicator..

Get your Windows 7 as up to date as possible. This error MSI 1603 is common with installer package when .NET is out of whack.

Also, is UAC still ON? If not, turn it back on.

    cheers ...
