I am trying to make a vlite disc for vista ultimate (x64) and i am trying to preload it with the dell drivers. How do i go about doing this? It seems to require the driver to be in .INF format, but dell's drivers are in .exe format.
Also is it possible to preload it with Firefox, Thunderbird, MS Office, etc..

execute the exe and it will uncompress them to a folder of your choosing. Then point vLite at that folder!!
I've done the same thing with my computers. I was bored one day and I haven't used them yet -
Thanks! Does anyone know if its possible to integrate program files such as Firefox, Foxit Reader, etc.?
-
Yup, it is possible, there are several different ways to do it.
Unfortunately I can't post the links directly until I've posted 15 times... How silly since I've just wasted all this time trying to fool the forum parser just so I can help out a fellow forum user... -
If you google Unattended Install Vista you should get some useful info
-
Also look into Windows Post-Install Wizard which will help you with this

Ok, sorry to break that up into a billion posts, but I should be able to post the links now
(Sorry forum admins! I'm trying to help here, please don't hurt me!)
There is a program called Windows Post-Install Wizard (WPI)
http://www.wpiw.net/The_Dark_Side/files.html
And you can do it manually with an unattended install file (Autounattend.xml ) A great guide can be found here:
http://firegeier.unattended-sponsor.de/en/sitemap.html
and specifically to installing apps:
http://firegeier.unattended-sponsor.de/en/applications.html
and the MSFN newsgroups are also a great source of info, a useful post of which is here:
http://www.msfn.org/board/WPI-Vista-t99434.html
You can combine these approaches with batch files (scripting) to do a lot of cool things.
And to address your original question about extracting drivers, there is a great tool called UniExtract which will extract the files out of almost all installer packages:

Hope that helps, Good luck!
