Hello all, I know that there are many programs out there that allows people to combine music they play from different instruments and produce their own "remix", but what about vocal editing? Does anyone know any powerful vocal editing program?

I current use Sonar and I've used Goldwave and CoolEdit Pro 2.1 in the past.

I guess any will do. Budget shouldn't be a big matter here for now xD How do you tell from a good program and a crappy program? I always wanted to know if it is possible to tune people's voice like they do in music studios. What softwares will they use? Say if I was singing a song and I went off key, is there a program that I can use to actually "tune it right"?

Pro Tools or Cubase will do you good. I use Pro Tools and one of my friends use Cubase and in my opinion both are very good. however they are kinda expensive.

Murdoc, when you say vocal remixing, what exactly are saying. Dialgue editing? Music editing? Video audio dubbing?
As far as tuning voice, there is only so much one can do for bad singers. I'd suggest Antares Autotune plugin. Or are you just looking for an effect?

and I heartily echo what Expo said about Protools and Cubase (Nuendo's better IMO :p ).

Audio editing... meaning I have an instrumental of the song and then say I sing the lyrics and merge them together to sound like I'm singing the actual song.

As for the vocal tuning, you'd be amazed how it works. I'm pretty sure most American singers actually have singing techniques but in some asian areas, there are a few artists who sound like crap on stage and doesn't go off key at all on their own album.

Believe me, there are plenty of American singers that sound like crap on stage, too. ;)

I love Sound Forge. Love it. But it's not a great program for multi tracking.

Lolz... WEll Sonar I think so far is doing fine except their features and functions are so complex I don't even know how to use them = ( I want to find out more about Vocal tunning... Does Sound forge allow vocal tuning? I know goldwave has a crappy "pitch" tuner but that doesn't work very well because it will change the tempo. So say if I went off key by singing a "flat" instead of a "sharp" then tuning it higher will result me in going out of sync with the actual background music.

Within Sound Forge you can adjust the pitch, but you have to do it by hand (which is usually better anyways). You can also keep the original times for your takes. Just remember it's not a good multitracker, so for music, I'd still suggest something else.
