I plan on purchasing a legal copy of OSX soon in order to attempt Hakintosh, however I'm having major issues finding a GOOD guide (some are outdated, others have large amounts of negative feedback, etc.).

I was hoping that those who were successful with Hackintosh could share their stories and links to reference/guide sites they used.

My ultimate goal is to use Logic (music production software) which is Mac-only.

I understand I can flip between W7 and OSX by simply logging out.

I've been wanting to do this for quite a while now and hope I can find the information I need.

To clarify, Hackintosh can run on any laptop with good specs, correct? I read in one of the guides that it bugs out if you have a 5XX nVidia card, but other guides do not mention this at all, so is it misinformation?

    Note:
Tried this in the Mac OSX sub-forum 2 months ago, but had limited replies, so please don't move this thread over there :)

I haven't attempted both W7 and OS X, but I have OS X via Hackintosh. I custom built my desktop with specs that were guaranteed to be working with OS X.

Laptop's are a different, as you can't just switch out parts to ones that fully work, unless you find one with parts in it where all are going to work. There is a list of laptops here, that shows you which ones work.

If you are wanting to dual-boot Windows 7 and OS X, you will have to shut down and select Windows in the boot screen.

You can head over the TonyMacX86 forums for help. There is also a tutorial here.

Hmmm, that laptop list is quite short. I guess I'll ask in the M14X section to see if anyone has done it to their system. I wasn't aware that it could only work on specific laptops.

I will also check out that tonymac link - thanks for the reply :)

You could do a Boot Camp partition, one with Windows 7 and one with OS X. I'm unsure if OS X will like the switchable graphics, I doubt they have kexts for your GT555m w/ Optimus support. Biggest headaches is finding WLAN kexts if you have a Dell WLAN card.
