    Gidday guys

Just wondering if anybody has noticed any change in battery life with W7. I was of the understanding it was going to increase battery life noticably, what's your opinions?

    Regards to all.

The battery life increased a little bit compared to XP because of more control over the power management.

I think it's similar to Vista right now (which is better than XP). With the final version and official drivers, it'll likely be a bit better.

By default Win7 indexes **everything** on your hard drive. You could shut off indexing to save some cpu cycles and a boatload of disk accesses.

If i turn off indexing, what would be the disadvantages? Would that slow bootup/application launch time and other stuff? i use the search function occasionally.

doesn't affect boot times or shutdown. It will affect some searches, expecially searches that cross many directories. But not too much. In my case, the upsides of shutting down indexing are greater than the downside of longer searches.
