    Hi Everybody,

My girlfriend is experiencing a most particular problem with her Windows: help and gadgets just do not display.

This means if I press F1 the help window does display actually but it only says, that online help is not available – though it should be – and it does not find anything in the offline help. It only says “__elbasuer__ “ and it could not find anything.

The gadgets do not even display. I tried all variations of getting them to run but non of it worked.

On the top of all, we use the exact same hardware, the same laptop, the exact same Windows 7 version, 64 bit Ultimate edition that is, and we receive the exact same updates as well. The only thing that is different are the software installed and the external Buetooth device and it’s driver she has. But that does not seem to be connected to the problem since everything worked fine after I installed it.

By the way, she does not remember when the problem started, and she claims not having done anything. She only recalls that once she wanted to enlarge the weather forecast gadget and it froze. After a system restart noting worked.

Does anybody have an idea what the problem might be?

Is this a Dell laptop? That issue with the help being broken is caused on Dells when certain Bluetooth driver packages are installed. So, most likely, that Bluetooth installation indeed caused the issue.

The fix is to open a registry editor, and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Assistance\Client\1.0\Namespaces\OEM\en-US\Topics. There may be one or more Bluetooth related keys there, such as BCRM_Bluetooth_Help, but there could be others. Delete them all, and your problem should be fixed.

I am not sure, however, if this will also fix the gadget issue.
