Hey guys, I need some help. My WHS has a 1 TB drive, and an external 250gb drive. Of course, WHS is installed on the 1 TB drive, but Disk Management is reporting to me that the internal drive is 7% full, but my external drive is 85% full. I guess maybe I just set it up wrong, but can someone tell me why all my data is on the external drive and not the internal one? It seems strange to leave so much open space on that one and fill the external one to the brim. Is there something I can do so that all my data is on the 1TB drive and is just backed up to the external (that's how folder duplication works, right)?

I have a 50gb drive too I could put inside the server if that helps...

WHS automatically balances the drives - there is nothing wrong with your system. You do not need to attempt to move the files around, and in fact, you should not even attempt to do so.

If you want more information about WHS, I suggest going to a WHS specific website, and I also suggest reading the various Microsoft documents about WHS and how files are maintained.

can you put the external into your whs? usb is very slow...

other than that, have you enabled file duplication on all shares?

and no, you can't control the stuff in any way, it does it automatically. oh, and, don't trust any disk utilities, they can't really measure how much data is on each drive reliably. on one of my 1tb drive it reported 2.7tb full :)

but one thing i can suggest is getting rid of usb drives, they recuce file performance of your whs to about 1/5th.
