I recently purchased a Compaq Presario V4000T WIIIDE-screen laptop. Now there are many advantages to having a widescreen when using a laptop as a mobile DVD player. However it seems like having widescreen when using the laptop as a desktop replacement or gaming computer yields less desired results.
Does anyone else find it annoying that when running a game or program that is normally designed for the 1152x864 the look is a little off? Everything seems to be stretched slightly, giving it a fuzzy look. Is there any way to fix this!?!?
Thanks!

I haven't noticed any problems with my 15.4" widescreen although I don't game on it. I like how web pages are rendered, as some webpages require you to scroll to the right to see all of the content, yet with the widescreen you don't usually need to do this.
I've also found that when writing papers it is easy to cite sources by using Acer's Gridvista to have two windows side-by-side, and as there is more real estate, each window shows more text.
I think I read somewhere that most games are developed for the standard viewing aspect, but that this will change as widescreens become the norm. -
are you sure the movies are stretching? are you getting black bars? maybe it's a software setting for your vid card. -
I would go with 1024 x 768 or something that is compatible with the game and especially for your LCD screen. I have no problem using HP wide screens with World of Warcraft (15.4" screens) under all supported settings.

There's no such thing as free lunch...

on the Display Properties>>Settings>>Advance>>Displays>>>Panel
there is an option to uncheck the "Scale image to Panel size"
i do not know if that will help but it worked for my games -

this might help you... many times there are registy or config settings that you can change to get the game to run at a native resolution -
Basically there is no FIX for this because the game just runs on certain resolutions and if your native resolution is high, then most lower resolutions will look "fuzzy".
Solution is to just run a high enough resolution that you can without suffering gaming performance loss.
Sorry, that's all there is to do for this. I know it kinda stinks sometimes when you wanna play a game and have it look good, but it looks kinda messed up because it's running a lower resolution.
