Novice Win8 user and would like to get up and running ASAP. Has anyone reading this used either Classic Shell or Windows 8 Manager?

Does Clasic Shell impact the performance of Win 8 in any way?

Are there any other stability issues with either app?

    Thanks in advance!

Any skinning UI you use to mask or replace the Windows 8 shell/interface is going to impact performance; even the lightweight programs. It may not be much of an impact, but because it's a separate program running in a separate memory space, it's not going to be as zippy as the default shell.

I've only used Windows Blinds in the past for Windows XP. Miniscule performance decrease, and some minor bugs. I can't speak for the other programs, as I don't have hands on experience with them, but even if they're incredibly stable, the default UI/shell will undoubtedly run smoother.

Classic Shell works great here. Tons of options, zero impact on performance. If by (un)chance it does not fulfill your needs, simply uninstall like any other program.
