I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit on my Acer Timeline 1810T and for some reason when I am running Windows Live Messenger it displays twice in the superbar.
I tried to use the workaround where you set compatibility to Windows Vista but the problem still exists.
Anyone have any ideas on how I can resolve this?

You can't. This is how MSN (Live Messenger) was designed.
They are alternative IM software, like Trillian.
If you use Trillian, the program is packed with options to customize the program with different looks, and check it out on what suit the best if you don't like the default settings. -
This really bugs me too. If there is a solution, I'd love to hear it!

WLM 8.5 for great justice

I had this problem when I had Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, but at least changing the Compatibility mode to Vista fixed it, I don't know why it doesn't work on Home Premium 64-bit.

You can run windows live messenger in vista sp1 or sp2 compatibility mode and it'll go back to normal. E.g. msn icon in the tray.
