Bugs? What bugs? The only issues I've ever had with WMP 11 (beta included) are the annoying copyright protection pop ups that load slow as hell and keep reappearing.

-the edge of the window has some sort of white visual artifacts.

-can't get WMP to stop monitoring my folders (yes i did choose to "ignore" my documents folder) although, it is gone now... hopefully it will stop monitoring my folders.

-if i maximised the screen and hover my mouse in the edge of: close, restore or minimised windows don't recognise that i hover in it. i have to hover on top of the icon for it to recognised it.

-well i guess that it... hopefully i wouldn't find anymore; afterall i've only used it for a day. is it just me or is the WMP is kinda ugly... hmmm... i guess i'm used to iTunes i guess... maybe it'll improve as i used it some more. (hopefully i won't be call Mac Fanboy; funny thing is i'm called Windows Fanboy in apple forum. lol)

Strange. Do you mean the gradient by the white visual effect? Because I think that is supposed to be there as it is the default skin.
My WMP doesn't monitor my folders by default. Maybe it's an option you have to uncheck during installation or something.
My hovering works fine whether maximized or minimized. Maybe you had an erroneous installation?

it sort of looks like a tear in the edge.. try it with a black background/wallpaper you'll see.

what i mean by monitor my folder is: "search for media files in the background" i already select "ignore" in "monitor my folder but it kept adding my iTunes music; eventhough it cant read them (all m4a files).

as for the close window: i usually "flick" my mouse to the top-right-edge corner of the screen (when maximised) to close my window; now it seems window's new close button remove them (possibly cause they tought people might accidetally close it?) fine... so (still at the top edge corner, till you cant move further to the top) slide your mouse to the left... and walla, windows don't recognise that you want to close your window, this works if you select it from the bottom up btw.

found a new bug... try this:

    1) maximised your window
    2) move your mouse pointer to the "close" [ X ] button its glowing red right?
    3) move your mouse to the top edge of the [ X ] button (still glowing?)
    4) click it! .... nothing happen, (but its still glowing, how can that be?)
    5) double click it! ... now the window restore... hmmm... i think its something to do with windows resize...

It just seems to be a lot less responsive and as easy to use as iTunes... I don't like it very much, though the new look is nice.. but it is very annoying to get around in

I'd stay away from it. It's even more draconian with it's DRM injection. It'll even nicely put it on any CD's you import. Screw that.

So what's the main differences between 10 and 11? I want to see if it's worth downloading, also does it chew more resources than 10?

11 is definitely better than 10 (if you can ignore some of the bugs). though if i were to move to windows media player. it needs to have "keep my music folders organised option", have built in file conversion (support for m4a), Eupport For MORE CODEC!, and have higher quality visualization.

Notice what WMP11 does to your licenses:

    http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=34523

I know lots of you don't trust the Inquirer because it's a tech rag. I agree. So go ahead and read how WMP11 sucks directly from Microsoft:

    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/11/readme.aspx

you won't be able to use multiple devices (Broke your mp3 player? re-buy all your music), it'll inject extra DRM where it wasn't before, and it completely redoes the PlaysForSure, which means new music you buy from Microsoft approved partners actually WON'T play on your older devices.

Better make sure you don't want to keep shows around on a Windows Media Center edition PC, either. It'll delete them after 3 days without asking you. Isn't that nice?

    Screw Microsoft.

Wobble - now you've done it! I can see that white pixels now. Why did you tell me that? Bad boy. :)

Other things you mentioned I don't have.

I like WMP 11 - it is faster than 10. Searches through my 40GB music folder in no time (after the initial indexing).
The bug that I had with closing and then the need to kill it in Task manager was finally solved. I went to performance options and clicked restore defaults (or something).

Don't worry, I'm sure that's one of microsoft's top priorities.

Change the Rip folder to something else as it's always going monitor that.
Codec support? Download the right codec.

You know how you can fix that? Little complicated but it's worth it. Don't buy DRM music, and don't check the box "Copy protect music"; that option should be off by default.

I don't see the reference to the comment about the shows being deleted on microsoft's website.

Yeah I agree that is very stupid. However I just keep a backup copy of all my music on an external hard drive.

I never tried. My MP3 player is handled with iTunes (iPod Nano).

But I have to compliment Microsoft. WMP11 looks great.
