    Hello,

Well, i have a school project about making a movie. I made the movie, and now i have to pass it to a CD so i can show it at school.

the problem is that i cant be able to do so. On Nero its says disc is not writable or something like that...

is there a way of passing this windows movie video to a CD-R? and play it on a DVD?

thanks alot really.. i have to bring it on tuesday :S

You need to convert the WMV to DVD format.

Some DVD players can play Xvid or Vidx in an AVI container. I know of none that supports WMV. If you have such a player you could convert your WMV file to Xvid and put it on a CD. Otherwise you need to author it to a DVD.

well if u wanna convert wmv to dvd....I wud say first install DIVX bundle from divx.com....then install winavi 8.0 from winavi.com....
it is the best software to convert any format to dvd....then u cud make a dvd through nero by selecting the converted .ifo, .bpo, .vob type files n all....its a piece of cake....just made one 10 mins ago of Pulp Fiction :D

or u cud use nerovision to author dvds but i am not sure if it supports wmvs and it takes hell of alot of time....winavi takes about 45min to make one dvd in PAL format....

I doubt your school is going to have a DVD player capable of XviD format, you usually have to look for them if that's the feature you want. You are going to need to convert the wmv to DVD for it to play.

Did u choose the correct format PAL or NTSC..??
I wud say install winavi 8.0 and then convert the so n so file into the DVD format....then write the dvd with nero~~>use nero express, make dvd, then goto the video folder of the converted dvd and select all the files....write it and it shud work....just to be sure u dont end up using the dvds as coasters get the DVD+RW or DVD-RW as per ur writer so that u can re-use them if the dvds dont work....
If u need help with the winavi software PM me :p....and also install the divx bundle as well....

if the above fails try creating a VCD or SVCD with nero. Those will play on a dvd player too.

Well i actually use the Divx video decoder to decode the file rather than the moonlight video decoder(which is free and built in most dvd authoring softwares) which makes the whole process slow....it takes about 20-30 mins to make a PAL dvd with the divx decoder and more than an hour with the moonlight video decoder....
I actually use WinAVI because I find it quite powerful since it can easily make and rip dvds and has many advanced options to choose from....and my brother works in a studio so he has the volume licensed key to it.... :p so i wanted to make gud use of it.... :D

You need to use the Windows WMV decoder to decode a WMV file. AFAIK there is no second source decoder for WMV. See this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Media_Video
