When I try to set certain files as wallpapers(centered) they don't adapt themselves to the screen size and end up appearing cropped on the screen.

    . ur screen resolution?
. the pic size in question?
. dpi settings can also be a factor
. compare the ones with the issues to the ones that u were ok with and see

    cheers ...

The reason a wallpaper gets cropped in "center" mode is if it's bigger than your native screen res. Make sure that if your wallpaper is bigger than your native screen res to always chose "fit to screen".

Screen resolution is 1200x800(widescreen), pic size: 1024x768. The stumping point is that sometimes the same pic appears fine while at most times it shows the cropped effect.

I tried the "fit to screen" option also.

That's weird, judging by the pic size, it should stretch the pic, not crop it since its smaller than your screen res.

So even if the pic is of the smaller size, shouldn't fit to screen resolve the problem? It doesn't do it.

You should now that 1024x768 is standard res while 1280x800 is widescreen.

So, if you use the "fit to screen" option, your pic can only be stretched to ~1067x800 in which case it would not fill the whole screen. Therefore since you want the pic to take up the whole desktop background, the width will be artificially stretched from 1067 pixels to 1280 while the height will stay the same. Sorry this is really hard to explain but my point is that your only options are to either stretch the pic which would make it look (unproportionally) wider then normally or to crop it a bit.

I suggest the easiest way to solve this is to use pics with 1280x800 resolution or add a border to your current pic.
