Want to buy "new" Nero..bought it! Thanks all!

I want to buy the newest full version of Nero. I'm open to next to new if It's exceptional. Any suggestions besides Amazon,etc...I'm not a true fan of Ebay!

I bought the downloadable version direct from nero. $80. I am not sure what's actually included in the retail package.
The downloadable is always the newest since they do release a new version every month or so, to support new drives/media and fix bugs. So a retail will be a few fixes short of "new".

Nero is great product. I just picked up a copy on ebay for $8 including shipping. It was version 6.3.016 but I was able to upgrade to the newest version with the included serial. Even Nero Express is a superior product as to compared to most DVD burning software available at the moment. If you are looking for a free product, CDBurnerXP is also very good. It works well for most burning basic tasks like making audio and data CDs, bootable CDs, and Data DVDs. It can burn a DVD-Video but it has to be in .iso format. There is supposed to be a new version soon which will include DVD-DL burning. The reason I got Nero instead of CDBurnerXP is that it is better at converting .mp3s and .wma files on the fly. I make a new CD almost every day for my 30 minute drive to work. CDBurnerXP works, it is just a little slower. Good Luck.

I love it! The version you downloaded is the newest and the $79 or $80 I mentioned! I have to have it! It's great for so many reasons. They give you a key or whatever after you download and buy it! There's just no way I could pay that amount! I will find some way to get it!

That's what I found and am partially open to the idea (probably will end up doing that,I also saw it for $8.)

I'm hoping some other option pops up by posting this or looking on my own.

Yesterday I put a few things in my wishlist on buy.com to look at today. The rebate doesn't apply to me because I don't have older versions to tear off the manual cover,etc...to send in. If I knew someone that did ,I would ask them for theirs if they didn't care,but I don't!

It makes me mad that I didn't transfer the version I was given free from an old tech a few years ago that gave it to me free on my most recent previous Desktop now gone. I thought it about it to an exreme and forgot that 's what happened. There was alot of things going on and tons of repair people in my home that day and I didn't realize until actually "only" 2 hours after...but too late!

Alot of people love Ebay. I've bought from there once recently for something I looked for over a year with no problem. I'm not generally a fan of Ebay. Did you buy it for $8 including shipping? even if there was shipping It's a great buy. I think I'm deterred because ....well too many reasons! forget what I was going to say.

I see so many thngs that are not returnable and too many people I know have been ripped off! Do you remember the person you bought it from or was it a one time deal?

A little tidbit! On the news last month a young 16 yr old girl living 2 minutes from me sold a Hummer for $21,000 that never existed. How stupid! She was arrested! I do know where she got the idea or at least the picture from because for promotional reasons there was one sitting in a very public area! Of course I don't know for sure but the picture on Ebay was of the one that was sitting down the street from me and her! Sixteen yrs old and thought she could get away with it. Yes,she was arrested but being sixteen she'll get off more than fairly OK!
you might have heard about it. It was on the national news not just local because it was Ebay!

If you buy from someone with a lot of positve feedbeack, you should be in good shape. ebay is just another tool. If you can get it there the cheapest, great. If not, get it elsewhere.

I found a site that sells several versions from $5-$19 all new...some retail ,some OEM and I think 2 very old downloadable versions for $5 but no mention of being able to get updates (there must be). The most expensive was I believe Nero Express. It's 5;30am and I've been looking for several things so I don't remember exactly.
I saved it to look at later today! The prices were great! I'll have to see if I can find any info on the site. I never heard of it before. I got linked there while googling something to do with OE mail!

I kind of hoped someone had one they might want to sell! That was my main reason for posting which I didn't mention. Also if like you zazonz that possibly new somewhere right now for $8 would have been a great possability! They are out there. I really wanted the newest downloadable or retail version ($70-$80 is too much for me)!

I did find with OE that unless you keep your email on your server that each computer is going to be different. I guess for OE if you out and about and want to look at it on OE It's impossible! Now I have ne email address on OE that I use as my primary. I typically have a different primary address I can aces from anywhere because it is on a different server. I still can't figure out why an email sent to the same address set up on 3 PC's will pick and choose all of a sudden since a bad internet crime incident my network is basically non existant! Everything! From favorites,email to everything! every computer works as if It's it's own. Like I mentioned earlier I've already been told it would entail some time and work that I have no money for to pay a tech I trust! I had a great deal with the one on vacation,now moving within less than 3 months! It's not convenient to go to each PC and not have all you info synchronized!

No ,I didn't know about this offer. Fri/Sat nght I put 3 other things in my wishlist. This offer was a $20.00 rebate w/previous proof of a differnt version when I saw it and when Qwester (I think) or Zazonz sent me a link.

You said you couldn't see the rebate . For this offer It's just the proof from the box and receipt. The price is different depending which version.

I'm going to buy it right now or after I look at "confused Dad's" comment.

P.S It was Qwester's link and I just clicked on it and the entire rebate is changed! I printed out the last one ...not even close and I couldn't use it. You had to have a previous version of 1 out 4 or so different choices.

 

What do you mean? I looked at my email where I get my Buy.com deals and news. It was in there! Do you ean you can't use the rebate now? I don't understand what you're saying and referring to Qwester.

P.S OK you bought it (downloaded) from the website like I wanted to do! So do you think the retail version will not be upgradable...that's my concern ? Please offer your opinion! I would prefer to do it from their website but it's not an option and that's why I haven't ordered yet. I'm thinking of contacting Nero to find out.

I want to but it right now with the other 3 things . Would you have bought this if you saw it first and do you think I'll have access to the upgrades? After you posted this I went and looked at my email and I did see the offer. It didn't start until today so that's why last friday and over the weekend the rebate they had for $20 didn't apply to me! I want to make sure I can keep upgrading al the upgrades. I would assume so....

Yeah, I went to Nero's site and got it there. Just feeling pretty stupid since I got that email this morning [:I]

This will be a legit copy and have a serial number. Since this is 6.6, I'm not sure if it will have the "major update" that Nero does on the web, but at least you can download that from the site and use your current serial number.

I'm not sure about the upgrade to a newer version when it comes out. This is the first time that I've used Nero, so I'm not familiar with the update process. I would say contact Nero, but don't call them (it cost 1.60 a minute [:0] )

 

nero have an upgrade about every one month, to add fixes and support for new drives and media ... pretty cool of them.
the way u upgrade is, you just download the new full package and run it. it detects that a previous vesion is there and asks u if u want to upgrade and viola! (no need to enter your serial when upgrading).

SG, you bought the download version, right?

That's good about the $10 coupon. Nero didn't cause Sonic to stop working on my system. I was missing CyberLink which is causing all my problems. Dell is sending me another CyberLink cd this week.

I wasn't even really talking about you. I must have remembered you mentioning something about your problem. I was talking about it being mentioned in the reviews I was reading on a site I linked to. It might have beem Amazon. I was reading alot of reviews and one site I read probaby 30/35 out of like 1000 reviews.

Sorry about that I would have figured it out in two more minutes while I was going back and reading this thread,edited it out but you posted to quick! I'll find it and take it out,it was only a question and didn't make sense after I thought about it.

I have other questions that maybe you could answer in my last post besides pointing out that I only "asked" you if that was something you mentioned . I was ging back to correct it because then why would you be buying Nero if that were the case. I knew I was wrong but like I said I was only asking.

If you can help with more that would be great. I'll be removing that so I should be right here for a second or so! I just wish I knew more. I don't have money . It was so hard to come up with the initial $68.00. I'm sure I would have seen a charge for nero if I looked into contacting them but I never got there and this was "only" good for today on buy.com! So it was good that you told me that,although I wasn't going to call Nero. I had another idea and I guess I'll still have to. This is not returnable! It wont be worth getting it for such a savings if I can't uprade. Getting a deal isn't always the best choice but I guess it will have the newest options for the moment and the rest will still be worth it!

I would go ahead and buy it from Buy.com. If i didn't already have mine bought, I would do the same. From what I've seen, its the exact same as what you get if you bought it from Nero. You shouldn't have any problems with updating it.

I thought you remembered something about my problem. My solution to my sonic problem was to get Nero....it didn't solve anything. [ ] But I like Nero alot better.

 

if i am not mistaken, as long as what you have is a version 6.anything then you can upgrade with no problems.

BTW the download version comes as 6 package which contain all the little extras. I just use the basic/main package, never used anything from the other packages. not sure if the cd still contains even more stuff!

I thought it would be one disk. It won't cost you anything to do the updates. The only thing that I thought might cost something is if they come out with like Nero 9 or something, then I thought that might cost something if we wanted to upgrade to that.

 

Oh my god! I thought it would be one disc. So then it would be easy not to have to download things you don't want. I've never bought any software that wasn't one disc except for tons that I got for .30 cents or less and gave to people as gifts or in exchange for services. I mean from junky to high end $900 software. I did it for 15 yrs!

I figured the downloads are available but I still wonder if there is a cost involved. Oh well, thanks for the info...It's bought now and I'm sure I'll be happy enough. I still keep thinking in the back of my mind like I'm going to be here so much longer!

Amber I mis read what qwester said. I know It's version 6 but talking about the extras and so many, I thought qwester was saying it came with more discs. Qwester was simply explaining that during his download he chose the basic version.
