I spent $300 to buy Windows Vista Ultimate, just to recieve a few Ultimate Extras which was like ages ago, and which are hardly useful.
Theres hardly any difference between Ultimate and Home Premium.

Why doesnt Microsoft offer what it promised what it did for Ultimate users, the premium service and extras??

Its a total, I saved up to buy the Microsoft Sidewinder mouse and Vista Premium, but I went for Vista Ultimate, which took over the my option of buying the mouse and its totally worthless.

No it's not worth it - I'm disappointed in what I'm getting with Ultimate. It's a rip off as far as I'm concerned. I can't believe I fell for that scam.

I wouldn't go for Ultimate personally...if I was looking for a Vista PC I'd just get Vista Home Premium. The Ultimate Extras aren't that enticing for me to justify its cost.

Most of the backup features that come with Vista are options in free programs. I'd not do it. Personally, Vista's downfall is all of the different versions. Business and Ultimate, or something similar.

Is Vista Ultimate the only version of Vista which has a 64-bit version? That might be the only thing which one would want, if they need to optimize 4GB of memory...but for most people thats not the case. I am enjoying Vista Business...but I might go for Vista Ultimate if it was sold through my school for like $5 :)

All versions of Vista are available in both 32bit and 64bit versions. Ultimate might only be worth it if is bundled with a pre-built system, then it might not be too bad of a deal depending on the total system price. But spending $300 - $400 on just the OS is not really worth it IMO.

...maybe some day they will come out with some actually good extras <cough>...yeah right.

Hopefully, this Vista OS is the last OS I'll be purchasing from Microsoft. UNLESS, they come out with something off the charts.

I'll be switching to the Dark side (Apple) later on.

Retail price of Ultimate is ridicules, not worth at all. I got it because it was bundled with my notebook (downgrading to Home premium only reduced $25, so I went with Ultimate instead).

I decided to get Ultimate with my laptop instead of Premium. I can't remember how much the upgrade was. However it wasn't really worth it. I have used many of the extra features. I probably only paid about $40 more for Ultimate so I didn't waste too much money.

I was concerned that if I didn't get ultimate I would be in the same situation that I was in with my old laptop. I got XP home but I really could have used some of the features of Pro.

It's only like $25 more if you get it bundled with your notebook, which to me was worth it.
