This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved.     Interesting.

    I use AVG free, (well actually I'm trying a 30 day trial of AVG 7 pro which seems no different but costs a lot) and it seems perfectly adequate and the updates seem well done.

    I'm glad I found out about it before paying another £26 for another year of NOrton Antivirus.

    He comes off a little negative, but overall I'm glad people will be educated about these programs. I don't think he said anywhere that they're light and won't eat up system resources, but oh well.

    Newspaper columnist are always limited by space and to some extent audience--his is a fairly well educated but not necessarily technical bunch. I'm impressed that he gets as much info as he does in his 20 or so column inches...
