The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Yea, I've been using OO for a while..

    One of the best freeware's out there besides FireFox!

    I totally agree. Its probably the only decent office suite you can get for free. Though it has a lot of room for improvements.

    If you are a casual office user OpenOffice is the way to go.

    I probably use Excel more than any other component of Office, and sometimes make large spreadsheets with long formulas.

    Does OpenOffice's Calc compare favorably to Excel?

    Glad it helped--that's why I posted! Saved me some money, too, and I'll use it for some freelance writing. The "word" variation works just as well, and I never liked Word anyway. In fact, I'd like it better if it was less like Word, as long as it translated.
