I popped in widescreen formated DVD into my Toshiba P15 (15.4" WXGA) the other day and I could not get the actual movie to take up the entire screen. On the InterVideo WinDVD 4 program I could not find the option or setting to get rid of the black bars on top OR the sides. The movie is playing inside a black square in the middle of the screen, I can zoom in or take the fixed ratio off, but is there a better way to view the movie?

Has anyone else encountered this problem or know how to fix it?

    Thanks

I have had no problems playing videos on my 15.4" screen using Windvd 4. You will always have the lines on top and botton albight smaller than on a regular CRT, this is due to the fact that wxga monitors are actually 16:10 as opposed to widescreen dvds that are 16:9

Now as for your problems to me it sounds like 1 of two things. It sounds like your resolution could not be set to a widescreen mode, doubt it but that would possibly display these signs, or that perhaps you are playing a dvd that is Fullscreen and not widescreen. Again I could be wrong here, as this is just what I've personally seen.
