Hi guys,
I've been trying to watch some vids on my laptop. .rmvb, .rm and .mpg file extension, in particular.
I have reinstalled the codecs, updated my drivers but i still can't see anything. It was working 2 days ago, I have made no changes with my laptop or its operating system. I have tried VLC, GOM, WMP10, MP classic and get no where; just sound.
Any ideas?

Download the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack.
-
Ya that download heals all.
-
yup you're missing the necessary codecs, klite will def do the job! or just use vlc player...
-
yep dude k-lite codec mega pack is what i use, it has all the possible codecs you will ever need. sounds like to be a codec problem. VlC player is nice, but i've noticed not all videos play well with it. K-lite codec pack plus mpc is the way to go for 100% playability.
-
i have installed it and has done nothing
-
Dang, there goes my dream that VLC will play all.... :'(
-
i don't think you even need special codecs to play mpeg videos. if a codec pack doesnt work for the other vids, you can always use real media player.
-
Try system restore if it was working 2 days ago
-
Do you have WindowBlinds installed?
-
i would just uninstall all the media players and codecs, then reinstall them one by one and see. Sometimes they just got busted, having so many on the same comp
cheers ... -
I recommend you use CCCP or even the Vista Codec Pack. CCCP is your best bet. Be sure to get rid of all the other codec crap you have on your system before you install it though. -
As for its legality i know nothing about that. www.download.com and all other utility websites thinks its legal so ill let them get sued first then ill stop using it
I remember something like this happening earlier http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=270073
I still fail to see on how it is unefficient, has a messed up installer and problematic
Till then K-Lite ftw. -

thanks for the suggestion, ive tried man codec packages and players, GOM, VLC, BSplayer; but still no avail. Might have to reinstall my comp.

MPC doesnt work...

Try cleaning your registry using Ccleaner then install a new codec
Might not even be a codec issue :/
Watching vids, no video only sound
